i didnt like the canes issued for walking. that one with 4 feet and the others, that are adjusted with the handle about pocket length, make for bad balence, which is part of the purpose. so,, i found me a walking stick! it has a much higher center of gravity, and when you are sitting you can put you=r legs over it to relax a bit, and the best thing is, it can help you stand up by pulling on it, mine were about 4' long. so when i found one in the woods, i kept it. i meant to fix some of them up, but with the sciatica, i got in 2017 an that other stuff before it, i never did. so,, i have about 10 in the basement at my brothers, an while cleaning out the shed, i found 62 more. i had no idea i had that many. maybe 20 or so i thought. and i have given a few away to people that need something like that.

I consider myself to be in decent shape, but I keep a fiberglass "cattle sorting" stick with me when I'm walking around the farm. I can't tell y'all how many times it has kept me from tripping while walking through cow pastures. Plus, you can kinda pull yourself up the hills with a stick in a way that you can't with a cane.

I have a few I've made over the years. My favorite is my mushroom hunting stick. A white pine sapling from a trip to the Adirondack mountains. I even carved a Morel mushroom decoy for the top. It helps lure the morels out in the open... Now it has coins or badges from all over the country from our travels. Its been to London, too. England. Not Kentucky.
