What is the one thing your deer hunting lane lacks the most? Cover, oaks, water, etc?

Cover/oaks. It's all at least 80% crop land/hay pastures.
I have trees but maple etc. we have tried timber stand improvement and continue to do so.

I’m thinking my area needs a center clear cut of one acre that everybody stays out of. Let them bed there. But honestly don’t know if it works

Not going to lie, the family ground I hunt in Al pretty much has it all, Clear cuts with planted pines varying in age from 10 years to 3 years old, mature hardwoods, water, and open fields, only thing it’s lacking is ag. We use the fields for hay and cows.

Open areas to make something grow. Needs about 1000 dead cedars taken out of it. ...and as mentioned needs more deer.

You can't get there from here.
We didn't have hardly any acorns this year but we now have excess cover due to all of the trees that fell last spring. Luckily they were not completely uprooted so they gave some extra browse.

Definitely would love to have some crops bordering my woods. There could be, but the landowners choose to put them in hay.

Fall food plots, which we plan to frost seed all the hay pastures
with clovers in Feb. We have three ponds and a border creek.
Tons of all kinds of mature oaks. Beech trees and persimmon trees.
Several good cedar thickets for bedding areas. We also have three mineral licks.
We have worked on and hunted it many years so its in good shape, just refreshing
here and there....

I've got everything mentioned except food plots and that's fixing to change as I'm cutting back on the cows I run. Some less than ideal pasture is going to be allowed to go back wild and an acre or so is getting some goodies growing.
It doesn't help that the people behind me bought 95 acres and have 10 acres of food plots growing on their ridge. I used to see a lot more before they did that.
